Wasai Tambopata Lodge is a comfortable, remote jungle lodge set in a 3,000-hectare (12 square miles) private reserve next to the Tambopata National Reserve, part of the Amazon, in Southeastern Peru.
It is surrounded by a 30km (19 mile) trail networ through protected, primary forest, which makes it easier to see wildlife. It is also the closest lodge to the very large and fascinating macaw and parrot lick known as Collpa Chuncho.
Accommodation is in one of 19 bungalows, most of which have river views and others have jungle views. All rooms feature private bathrooms.
Books include all meals, accommodation, airport transfers and guided tours, which include a visit to the extraordinary wildlife spectacle that is the Chuncho claylick.
There is a dedicated healing space for Ayahuasca ceremonies.
Optional activities that can be booked at the lodge itself include excursions to Sandoval Lake, fishing tours, ayahuasca sessions, visits to a native Ese-Eja community and others.
Wasai Tambopata Lodge is a 4-hour boat ride from Puerto Maldonado or an hour by land to the Filadelfia community and then a further 20 minutes by boat.
This lodge is run by Wasai Lodge & Expeditions, a Peruvian organisation with over 25 years’ experience formed by professional guides, biologists, volunteers and local people. It also runs the Wasai Maldonado Ecolodge.
