Kapievi Ecovillage

Kapievi Ecovillage is a local family-run ecovillage close to Puerto Maldonado, Peru, in the Amazon rainforest, that offers its guests accommodation and a range of health-related, spiritual and agroforestry activities and nature tours.

Guests stay in cabins. Each cabin has one or two single beds and a private outdoor bathroom with views of the rainforest.

A mixture of local families, travellers and medium to long-term residents, inhabits the ecovillage and they encourage visitors to interact with the community, which promotes a sustainability-based life philosophy.

Yoga and meditation can be practised at the purpose-built “maloka”, an open, circular cabin at the centre of the community. Close to the ecovillage, Kapievi helps manage a private 25-hectare (0.25 km) forest where visitors can take part in agroforestry activities and ayahuasca sessions.

Breakfast is included with all bookings and other (vegetarian) meals are offered upon request. There is also a shared kitchen for guests.

Kapievi Ecovillage is located just 20 minutes by car from the airport and 5 minutes from Puerto Maldonado town centre.

Kapievi is part of an association with other local family hosts that is working together to protect a biological corridor, the Tambopata Ecotourism Corridor, which impedes urban development from reaching the rainforest.
