Amazon Field Station by Inkaterra is a newer jungle lodge that opened in 2017. It is located slightly inland from the Madre de Dios River next to Tambopata National Reserve, part of the Amazon, in Southeastern Peru. The location makes you feel truly immersed in the rainforest.

Accommodation is in spacious bungalows that sleep up to four guests with private bathrooms and private terraces. The larger bungalows are divided into two double rooms with twin beds and other bungalows are for two people in one room.

Daily tours and all meals are included with bookings. Excursions include guided jungle walks, nightwalks, caiman searches, a visit to Inkaterra Canopy Walkway and much more (see full list below). Trips to Sandoval Lake are not included but can be booked at the lodge with a surcharge.

Amazon Field Station by Inkaterra is a 45-minute boat ride from Puerto Maldonado.

Inkaterra is a Peruvian organisation with over 40 years’ experience in nature travel and ecological research. Its other lodges are Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica and Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción.

Part of its profits are used to fund conservation and social initiatives through ITA (Inkaterra Asociación), its not-for-profit association.
